Virgin Media Freedom joins the netbook game
Virgin Media introduces the Virgin Media Freedom: a netbook with a nice price!
Freedom was once a song sang by George Michael and murdered by Robbie Williams. Now it’s a netbook being offered for free (on certain subscription packages) by Virgin Media!
The Virgin Media Freedom, at first glance isn’t all that different from the current throng of netbooks doing the rounds. Yes, it’s got a larger-than-average 10.2-inch backlit TFT LCD display, but then it all goes a bit standard for our liking:a 1.60GHz Intel Atom Processor N270, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and a webcam. The Virgin Media Freedom also runs Microsof Windows XP.
So what’s the deal? Why should you care about the Virgin Media Freedom? Why should you stick this in your lap instead of say the Asus Eee Seashell? Certainly not for the paltry 2.5 hour battery life. But how about for the fact that Virgin Media is offering the Freedom for absolutely zilch… as long as you sign up for two year contracts on both fixed line and mobile broadband products, that is.
The Freedom is Virgin Media’s first branded netbook, and will be available in Virgin red or black.
