ViewSonic PMPs steal the Show The ViewSonic View Show PMPs: small, but with awesome screens

Fancy a sneak peak at a couple of affordo-PMPs? Of course you do. The ViewSonic View Show VPD500 and VPD400 have that oh so treasured ability to keep your kids quiet on excruciatingly long journeys – video on the move.

The ViewSonic View Show VPD500 has an awesome 800×480-pixel, five-inch screen and 16GB of internal memory, while the VPD400 has half the memory (that’s 8GB math fans) and a 800×480-pixel, 4.3-inch display. Both models, however, have that most handy of slots – a microSDHC card slot for expansion up to 32GB.

Battery-wise, ViewSonic is claiming up to four hours of video-wiewing, or just long enough for one Kevin Costner classic. They’ll also squeeze out up to 15 hours of music.

Almost every format under the sun is supported (although we did notice OGG and MKV were missing), while ViewSonic has also added component video output which allows you to you to watch videos at 720p resolution on your TV!

Only available in Taiwan from August, both the ViewSonic View Show VPD500 and VPD400 cost £111 and £92 respectively. The good news, however, is that we are expecting a European launch later this year.
