Twitter for iPhone arrives Twitter gets official

The official Twitter for iPhone app is finally on its way. The new Apple app has begun a global rollout today, starting in the US.

Unusually, new Twitter iPhone app hasn’t been built by Twitter itself – it’s an update to Tweetie, the popular app which Twitter recently bought over. Eagle-eyed web watchers spotted that Tweetie disappeared from the App Store yesterday.

Twitter for iPhone packs in all you’d want in a mobile version of the social networking site – control multiple accounts, use offline mode to tweet and follow when you’re not connected and post photos and videos directly.

As yet, there’s no sign of the official Twitter app in the UK iTunes store, but it should be with us before to long – and it’s also free.
