Toshiba gives us the hard CELL

Fwd Tech  Monday 05 October 2009

Toshiba gives us the hard CELL Want your TV to be and internet-enabled,hard drive-toting super-box? Read on...

It’s been a while since we heard any really good television news. Well Toshiba’s obliged this morning dishing the dirt on its new CELL REGZA LCD television.

Toshiba’s CELL REGZA LCD is actually a whopping 55-inch screen – ideal for myopic octogenarians and anyone who needs cinema-alike screens to sate their visual desires. Tosh has also confirmed that it’s a 240Hz display with a rival-crushing 5,000,000:1 – that means blacks as dark as our dark hearts and whites as pure as our souls. Ahem.

Elsewhere it has a seven-speaker soundbar just beneath the screen, an Opera-based web browser, eight window simultaneous multi-display and a 3TH hard disk. Sounds like the ultimate LCD TV to us.

Okay there’s no word on when this whopping screen will hit UK shores, but it’s out in the Land of the rising Sun in December and will set you back around one million Yen. In English speak that’s about £55,000. Or one grand for every inch of screen.
