Top 5 Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword features to look forward to

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword looks set to be the biggest game of the year for Nintendo Wii fans and with the launch date of 18th November set in stone, we’re starting to see first glimpses of what we have in store. Tricks like the enhanced motion controls of the Wii Remote Plus (or Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus accessory) and Nunchuk controller look set to add a new level to gameplay.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a prequel to the classic Ocarina Of Time which fleshes out the early years of main characters Link and Zelda and lets the player see plot elements that lay the foundations for the entire Zelda series. Here are the top 5 things that we are looking forward to in Skyward Sword.

Swordfighting

For the first time in a Zelda game, you will be able to experience the cut and thrust of battle using a Wii MotionPlus to take down enemies. The Wii MotionPlus is more sensitive than the basic WiiMote and Link’s sword in the game will mirror your swipes and parrys, enabling you to feel like you are really fighting.

As the game progresses you will use the same control scheme to flourish with a whip and aim your bow and arrow.

Family Ties

We get to meet Zelda’s father, Gaepora – the headmaster of Link’s school and a fountain of knowledge about the history and legends of the game world. Zelda nerds will be able to pump him for info about the finer details of life in Skyloft.

Friends Forever

Link and Zelda’s friendship is a constant throughout the series and in Skyward Sword we get to see how it all began. Expect lots of Hollywood-style ‘meet cute’ situations and hilarious misunderstandings as they get to know each other for the first time.

Forging with Fi

New character Fi is the spirit of the Goddess Sword. Fi will be your (Link’s) companion throughout the game and will help you to forge the Master Sword – a powerful relic familiar to players of other Zelda games. The “Blade of Evil’s Bane” is crucial to your success in the later games so you will need to make sure it gets sorted.

Limited loot

Special editions of games are pretty commonplace nowadays but the Skyward Sword limited edition is a cut above the usual art book & character postcards. As well as the game you get a CD of orchestral arrangements from the Legend OF Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony and a gold (well, gold coloured) WiiMote Plus controller bearing the Hylian Crest. Why release ANY game for the wii? The wii is nothing more than a dust collector in peoples living rooms, it was 10-15 years out of date even when it was first released. Surely they should have released their latest console (wiiU) by now. I think most people's interest and belief in nintendo has LONG GONE.

Can't wait for this! Wii Motion Plus swordfighting is great, plus a more fleshed-out storyline, great stuff!
