When it comes to gaming, the beginning of the year may not have been the most blockbuster-filled, but starting this month, that all looks set to change, with some corking games poised to hit the shelves and setting the scene for another great year of gaming.
With that playful thought in mind, and a new month ahead of us, we’ve picked out our five favourite, and your most most anticipated, games for February 2012. Need help deciding what to buy? Then read on…
Final Fantasy XIII-2
The latest game in the Final Fantasy series is a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, revealing more behind the original Final Fantasy XIII story. Thankfully you won’t need to own the original to enjoy the events here. New features include multiple pathways, time travel, an enhanced battle system and over 150 monsters to battle.
Soul Calibur 5
The series returns after a four-year hiatus. Other fighting games have since come and gone, so it’s good to see Soul Calibur come back, and on phenomenal form. New characters, new Critical Edge combos, faster gameplay and online multiplayer makes Soul Calibur 5 a must for fans of the series, and all beat-em-up fans.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
The Metal Gear Solid series feature some of the finest storytelling and action gameplay from the series that helped revolutionise open-world gaming. Now you can enjoy Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in HD on your PS3 or Xbox 360.
The Darkness 2
A graphical revamp, tighter controls and new ways to take revenge on your opponents makes The Darkness 2 one to watch this month. Early plays suggest a better campaign than its predecessor. We will have a full review soon, until then we’re keeping an eye on this one.
UFC 3
This month, we’re back in the famous Octagon for the latest in this brutal fighting series. UFC Undisputed 3 adds new submission moves and ways to finish the fight, better, more realistic, sometimes eye wince-inducing graphics and personalised fight entrances to help players rub it in.
