TomTom HD Traffic takes to the web
HD Traffic has moved into another gear
TomTom has released a free version of the popular HD Traffic service online, enabling you to check up on the latest traffic info before leaving home so you can pick the best route.
The service uses information fed back by other drivers to build an accurate picture of exactly where delays are being experienced, and is updated every two minutes for maximum accuracy.
The online interface will show icons placed in specific areas of your local map. Clicking on those icons will reveal how many incidents there are, the size of the traffic jam and how long it’s taking people to get through.
“By giving more drivers access to TomTom HD Traffic, we hope that we can start to make better use of the road network and start to reduce traffic congestion for everyone,” says Ralf-Peter Schäfer, TomTom’s excellently titled Traffic Director.
The online service has gone live across Europe, and is also available in South Africa and New Zealand.
