Today is iPad Day UK!
The Apple iPad – lands in UK
Today’s the day when UK customers can officially get their mitts on an iPad! Although those who pre-ordered at the first wave of opportunity are likely to have Apple’s tablet in their hands right now, ardent fanboys who want the full experience have been queuing all night outside the Apple Store in Regent Street waiting to get their first taste of the device.
17-year-old Jake Lee is officially the first person in the Apple Store queue, having been camped out since early yesterday afternoon. The store will open at 8am, an hour early, to let customers get their paws on it one hour earlier.
Apple was forced to push back its original April launch date in the UK because of “overwhelming demand” for the iPad in the US. The device sold more than a million in the first 100 days – selling faster than the original iPhone.
The iPad will also be on sale at Apple Stores as well as at 139 branches of Currys annd PC World and will cost £429 for the basic version to £699 for a model with Wi-Fi and 3G. Rumours that a 3G version, complete with Vodafone’s 3G data plan, will go on sale tomorrow, have yet to be confirmed.

Did Jake get anything extra for being first? A £25 iTunes voucher? Free iPad case? Invite to WWDC on June 7th?

The iBook store is a big let down - not many great titles, and very hard to find things by using categories!
