The robots are coming...
Forget Judgement Day. Let's live in harmony with our robots...
If the Terminator quadrilogy taught us anything, it’s to never trust a man with red eyes. That and the fact that it’s only a matter of time before robots stop farting and start shooting. Until that day, though, enjoy these toy ‘bots…
Robonova-I When we say the robots are coming, the first thing that naturally springs to mind is an Arnold Schwarzennegger -type cyborg hell-bent on destroying humanity. What you don’t expect is a tiny gold and black fella that can breakdance, run, walk and perform cartwheels. But that’s exactly what the Robonova-I is. No guns here. Just a whopping great big price of £720. That might terminate you right there.
Spidersapien Imagine dressing the Terminator up in a Spider-Man outfit, and you’ve essentially got the Spidersapien. This brute of a robot has 67 functions that allow him to grab, throw, dance and spout one-liners. He’s also still got all of Robosapien’s charming qualities too: farting, burping, roaring… Who said robots were intelligent?
WowWee Tribot WowWee are like the Cyberdyne Systems of our time, coming up with more and more advanced robots. The Tribot is another of their creations. This red fella has three wheels to keep him steady, while his infrared detectors keep him from crashing into things. His American accent might start to grate, but at least you can turn him off when he gets too much. That is, until Skynet goes live and all the robots turn themselves on…
Rovio A bit like a guard dog with Wi-Fi and a built-in webcam (and minus the little surprises!) Rovio can be controlled from anywhere in the world. Use him to keep an eye on your house, your wife or just to look up women’s skirts… no we didn’t mean that last one. We’d never do that. Best thing about Rovio, though, he self docks. So if batteries are running low, he’ll charge himself. Now that’s clever.
The Joebot Another one from those skilled robotic craftsmen WowWee, the Joebot is the company’s latest Robosapien, and he’s their slickest one to date. His movements are slick and he’s really fast, but the piece de resistance? He can beatbox. How much would we have paid to see Arnie do that?
