The Daily - soon to be another string to the iPad's bow

It’s been a while since we heard tantalising details of the tablet-only news publication The Daily, the brainchild of Newscorp’s Rupert Murdoch. And while we’re already able to page through The Project – Virgin’s similarly iPad-only magazine – we’re still waiting on our daily dose of Daily.

Now we’re hearing that The Daily is all set to launch next month, and it sounds like it will be more than worth the wait. According to All Things D – another Newscorp publication – The Daily is set to land on January 17, and is expected to be rich in video and other multimedia content, including a fair smattering of 3D, though there’s no details on how it’ll be implemented.

Still, it certainly sounds intriguing, and at just $0.99 per week certainly not overly pricey either. It’s believed the delay has possibly been to allow Apple to get its iPad subscription model in place, and Newscorp’s vision for its digital news publication no doubt includes plenty of features designed specifically for the iPad 2, expected to launch not long after.

Of course, it all could prove academic, as last time we checked The Daily was set to focus on US news only – not that we’d mind overly much for a chance to experience the magic, of course.
