Tesco launches £6 per month mobile contract
Tesco – cheap mobile deal
Tesco has just launched the UK’s cheapest mobile phone contract, at just £6 per month. The service, aimed at the cash-strapped, text-happy younger market will offer unlimited texts and 100 minutes of talk time for a £6 monthly fee.
What’s more, the deal is being offered on a one-month SIM, so there’s no massive contact to sign up to – although you will have to supply your own handset. There are also Clubcard points to be collected on the deal, natch.
This deal is ideal for a younger market or any text addict out there who doesn’t want to have to fork out a large amount each month but still wants to use their mobile to their hearts content,” said Lance Batchelor, CEO of Tesco Mobile and Tesco Telecoms.
The Tesco Mobile deal is available now, online or over the phone.

@waspish: That's 50ppm to an 070 number, which is an uncommon premium rate number

does the 1 month contract mean it automaticly renews after the end of the mouth, but if you wanted to cancel it would stop streiht away ?? (i mean for example: not having to finish like a 12 mouth contract if you wanted to end it)....help! :D......thanks....

yes the contract is recurring. it's normal name is 1 rolling contract which just means the 1 month contract is renewed each month, you just have to give 1 months notice, but as you pay for it each month is not a problem

What a Fantastic idea. Trust Tesco to come up with it..... hopefully other networks will follow suite. it doesnt cost them anything for text messages as they are slotted into the voice data stream and are making millions from us. way to go tesco.!!

Looks like Tesco are trying to compete with Asda Mobile, and yet with Tesco you still have to buy your own phone. With Asda you can buy a phone from as little as £17 (Nokia 1208) and all of the phones come sim free so if you do want to change services at any time or get one of those cheaper sims for when you go abroad you can (you are not then attached to a provider who wants to charge you for receiving a call at an extortionate rate when your not in the UK). You are not limited to either calls or texts as they are priced at 8ppm any network calls and just 4pp text. I spend no more than £5 a month on my Asda mobile top up, so why would I spend £6 with Tesco and be limited?

I would seriously go against getting this!!! They at first put a cap at £18 if you went over. And now without telling there customers it has rose £12 to £30+ VAT which will make the bill around £33. You can't block going over and you can only find out online what is happening.
