sWaP watch phone lands
One to watch for 2010...
Watch phones tend to be overpriced, oversized and generally not very good. And yet they refuse to go away. Witness the sWaP Classic: the latest wrist-based blower trying to get in on the act.
SwaP stands for Smart Watch and Phone, and to be fair to this little gizmo, it doesn’t do a bad job either. For starters, it does actually look like a normal watch, complete with traditional watch face and turning hands, albeit digital ones.
Underneath this 1.5in touch-sensitive screen is 128MB of internal storage, which you can bump up to 2GB by adding a microSD card. You also get Bluetooth, music and video playback and a built-in camera, though sWaP isn’t spilling too many details.
However, we will say that watching video on this miniscule 176×128-pixel display is likely to be frustrating. The battery is claimed to be good for just under three hours, or 100 hours on standby.
The sWaP Classic will set you back £249.
