Swann Freestyle HD takes on GoPro for mini camcorder crown

We’ve seen several great compact camcorders over the past few years – such as the GoPro HD – and they’re ideal for sports. The rugged Swann Freestyle HD is the latest to join the market, and gets a perspex housing to help keep it safe from knocks, drops and even water.

Waterproof at up to 65ft, it really is pretty much indestructible, making it a great companion for your holidays or hobbies. It’s capable of shooting 1080p video at 30fps, or regular stills at 8-megapixels, which should be enough to cater for even the most demanding user’s needs.
Unlike most clip-on camcorders, the tiny Freestyle HD also gets a 1.5-inch LCD screen. It can be removed when you don’t need it, but provides a great indication of what you’re shooting, or an easy way to check your video clips afterwards.
Priced at $279.99, fingers crossed that the Freestyle HD will make its way over to the UK in the near future.
