Suwappu augmented reality toy takes imaginary friends to next level
We’ve seen augmented reality appear in more and more smartphone apps recently, but if Suwappu has anything to do with it the technology could also play a big part in the future of toys.
Suwappu interacts with your smartphone to create an interactive world around the toy, along with allowing different facial expressions for your Suwappu, or even allowing different Suwappus to talk to each other.
The Suwappu toys are made up of two different parts – the top half (face) and the bottom half (pants), which each part containing different information for an augmented reality world.
The face of the Suwappu contains all the information your smartphone will need to give the toy an identity – letting it react to things you do, or to other toys.
The pants contain information required for an environment – letting the Suwappu appear to turn other objects into part of his world, or creating imaginary objects that appear in the space around him.
It may sound complicated, but it looks brilliant, and the next step for children wanting an imaginary friend. Unfortunately Suwappu is not available to buy yet, but be sure to check back here in the future for more updates.
