Star Wars: The Old Republic set for Apple Mac gamers!
Years of waiting finally came to an end last month when Star Wars: The Old Republic finally launched on PCs. The latest big thing in the Massive Multiplayer Online genre has proven so popular that new users had to wait in queues of hundreds just to play the game.
One month on Star Wars: The Old Republic continues to prove its popularity: over 60 million in-game hours have already been racked up. Now developer BioWare has confirmed that a Mac version is on the cards. Gaming in 2012: Five things to look out for Star Wars: The Old Republic has taken the PC gaming crowd by storm. Unfortunately Mac gamers have been left out – a fact not lost on BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.
”We know there’s a big Mac audience of BioWare fans … we know that’s an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience,” they told Joystiq.
Of course there is hope. BioWare have previously ported its games to Mac, most recently Dragon Age II. As of now, BioWare has yet to announce anything yet regarding Star Wars: The Old Republic, but the developers did say it is “definitely one of the things we’re looking at next.”
But right now, it’s all stations go for the PC version – “then we’ll look at other platforms, and that’s [Mac] obviously one of the first ones.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massive multiplayer online game (MMO) set years before the iconic Darth Vader came to power. It features worlds across familiar Star Wars settings including Tatooine, Alderaan, Hoth and more.
