Spotify unveils 'Buy' button
Thought Spotify couldn't get any easier to use? Think again...
If you’ve always enjoyed Spotify (and let’s face it who hasn’t?) for its ease of use, then you’ve probably been at odds with it in the past when trying to actually buy tracks. The bods behind the music streaming service, however, have just introduced a one button solution to your woes: the ‘buy MP3’ button.
Spotify has obviously been listening to some feedback because it’s just introduced Buy button next to tracks and below album cover art on the desktop Spotify client to make it easier and quicker for you to snaffle up your favourite songs.
All you have to do is restart Spotify and consider yourself upgraded. The next time you go searching for songs/albums you’ll see the purchase buttons. Just click on one (preferably not next to a Madonna track) and a window within Spotify opens allowing you to buy an MP3 of the track selected. The good news is it’s DRM-free so you can play outside of Spotify, plus it’s better quality than the actual streams you get on the service. That’s music to our ears!

Hmmmm not sure it's that good. Taking a look at a handful of tracks, the prices seem to vary from 99p to £1.49 and the bit rate is variable from 256 to 320kbps. Albums too seem to vary by quality and prices seem to start around £8 for a older albums. I think I'll keep using Spotify on and offline, then I'll buy the CD if I really want to listen to it on the move. Comparing like for like, I'm then guaranteed the best audio quality and I get a CD for nothing. Handy if my laptop gets nicked/introduced to a cuppa coffee.
