Sony Vaio NW offers Blu-ray on a budget The Sony Vaio NW sports a Blu-ray drive and an affordable price tag

It’s been a while since we reported anything from Sony in the laptop stakes, but the japanese giant has just unveiled the 15.5-inch Vaio NW with Blu-ray drive. Nothing strange there, you think. Well, Sony’s pricing this bad boy at $880 (or around £535 in good old Sterling)!

Away from the prized Blu-ray drive, the Sony Vaio NW also packs a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350, ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 with 512MB VRAM, 4GB of DDR2 RAM and sports a 15.5-inch WXGA display with XBRITE, which basically gives the screen a glossy appeal. The laptop also has a Li-ion battery that’ll keep going for a more than respectable 5.5 hours.

As is the fashion these days, the Sony Vaio NW laptop has a chiclet keyboard, and is available in a number of colours (none of them outrageous – like a businessman’s socks), including white, grey and dark brown. We’re still waiting on official confirmation on when it’ll be hitting these shores and for how much. Let’s hope it has a similar tag to the US version!
