Sony PS Vita shows up at Tokyo Game Show in eight colours
Let’s be honest – we’re always happy when gadget makers are step beyond the stock standard black, white and silver and give us some decent colour options, but when that gadget is the upcoming Sony PlayStation Vita gaming handheld and we hear there could be as many as eight colour variations incoming, it’s happy days indeed! Read on for all the multicoloured details.
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock or are returning from a stint on the moon or something, the PlayStation Vita – or PS Vita if you prefer – is the name of Sony’s next-gen handheld that boasts all kinds of exciting features like a 5-inch OLED touchscreen, a quad-core processor and a rear touchpad to help take hands-on gaming to the next level.
Throw in twin cameras and the possibility of 3G connectivity for social networking integration and TV streaming on the move and it really is the gaming industry’s answer to those ever-smarter smartphones we’re seeing emerging these days, and we’re counting the days to the PS Vita’s December launch in Japan, with an on-sale date in the UK expected early in the new year.
And together with its high-tech insides Sony may be giving you plenty of choice on how the PS Vita looks from the outside, too.
Unsurprisingly, the high-specced handheld has been all the talk of the Tokyo Game Show 2011 this week, and Sony’s display includes a kaleidoscope of eight different-coloured PS Vita prototypes in everything from light blue to purple to orange.
Sony’s reps at the show were at pains to point out that only the black version will be available when the PS Vita officially launches in Japan on December 17, we’d certainly not complain if a few of these colour options had to appear down the line.
Do you agree – would you love to see Sony offer some unusual colour options with the PS Vita, or is it all about the gaming? Which of the eight colours from the TGS2011 display do you reckon looks the best? Drop us a line in the Comments and let us know!
Which colour would you get yours in?

There were multiple colours of PSP in Japan for years until the likes of us Brits were able to get our hands on any of them. It'll be the same story with the Vita (stupid name too.)
