Sony prepping new VAIO P series

Sony prepping new VAIO P series Sony VAIO P series: new version coming this autumn.

Sony’s VAIO P series – that gorgeous ultra-portable PC with the low weight and heavy price tag – is all set to get an improved, “Mk II” version later this year.

Apparently due to hit the market this autumn, the revamped P series will feature a vastly improved boot time (the current model takes an infuriating 90 seconds to start up). Rumours also suggest that it’ll come with Windows 7 rather than Vista, which should help quicken the boot too.

Aside from that, not a great deal is known about the forthcoming refresh – although we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony cut the price down from the current £700 or so to something a little more wallet-friendly – particularly now that the company offers an actual netbook in the form of the £450 VAIO W series.
