Sony PlayStation Vita picked up by Vodafone for 3G connectivity

When the Sony PlayStation Vita, also known as PS Vita hits UK shelves this February it will be available in both Wi-Fi and 3G models. For those looking to get hold of the fully-loaded version, also known as the 3G model, Sony has just announced they will be teaming up with Vodafone to deliver the best user experience possible.

In an announcement on the official European PlayStation Blog, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) confirmed that the 3G model will come with a Vodafone SIM card, and that customers will be able to purchase a PS Vita from Vodafone channels. For that, read online and retail stores.

As an incentive to sign up for some Vodafone-flavoured PS Vita action, customers will receive a PlayStation Network voucher to download WipEout 2048 from PlayStation Store.

The PS Vita 3G will let those signed up enjoy the entirety of its online services on-the-move, without having to find a Wi-Fi spot.

As pricing goes, Vodafone has been quiet with the details of any planned offers, although 3G PS Vita models are currently listed online for £279.99. A Wi-Fi version will set you back £229.99.

Last week we brought you news that participating retailers are offers pre-order goodies including game discounts, early access to services and a free pair of PlayStation-branded headphones – so be sure to keep an eye out for the best offers.

The PS Vita will arrive on UK shelves from February 2012. WipEout 2048 is just one of the launch games set to arrive. Others will include Uncharted Golden Abyss and LittleBigPlanet.

So, what do you think, you ready to get your pre-order for the Sony PlayStation Vita in nice and early? If so, let us know whether you’re going for the standard version of the 3G powered by Vodafone model!
