Sony Playstation Portable PSP-E1000 specs revealed

Sony may have lined up the next generation of handhelds with the Playstation Vita but that doesn’t mean the PSP is being killed off just yet. Check out the Sony Playstation Portable PSP-E1000 tech specs.

The games giant has revealed the technical specs for the latest (and we assume last, but who knows?) version of the Playstation Portable, the PSP-E1000. This is a slightly cut-down edition of the console that Sony will be selling at a budget friendly 99 Euros.

The PSP-E1000 will have A 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen, weigh around 223g with battery and measure roughly 172.4 × 73.4 × 21.6mm. The console takes standard read-only Universal Media Discs but will also have a slot for Sony’s Memory Stick Pro flash memory for save games and multimedia.

The one curious omission is stereo speakers – unlike earlier PSPs that could pump out stereo sound for all to hear, the PSP-E1000 will require a pair of headphones to achieve anything other than mono.

So, what do you think of the tech spec list for the Sony Playstation Portable PSP-E1000, is it enough for you to start thinking of an upgrade? Let us know in the Comments below.

I don't understand this release. My 3000 series PSP which is almost 3 years old is a much better spec than this machine. It also is gloss-coated rather than the cheap-feel plastic that recent PS3/PSP releases have been packaged with. No thanks!

If a fantastic low price can make up for the rather shoddy specs, I'm sure people would be tempted- but at this rate I could pull out my old model and get the screen repaired...

Why is Sony bringing a new PSP out it is already over shadowed by the psvista, which is cooming out soon. What is the point really?
