Sony outs NEX-VG10E Handycam
Handycam NEX-VG10E – lens flair
The Sony Handycam NEX-VG10E has finally been unleashed on the public. It’s billed as the first consumer camcorder with interchangeable lenses and brings some impressive specs to the camcorder party.
Sony’s latest offering packs a 14.2MP APS CMOS sensor that can shoot 1080i video at up to 24 Mbps in AVCHD format, a 3-inch LCD viewfinder, and slots for both Sony’s Memory Stick Pro Duo and SD Media Cards, as well as an HDMI out a lot for playback on your TV.
The deal-breaker is that the NEX-VG10E comes with lenses you can switch, just like a DSLR. It comes shipped with a standard 18-200m lens as standard, and will work with all the other lenses in the new Sony NEX DSLR range, plus Sony’s Alpha lenses via a mount adaptor.
This is a unique move and will give you a whole host of shooting options previously only seen on pro camera rigs, including shallow depth of field and wide angles. Great news for budding movie buffs.
The Sony Handycam NEX-VG10E will be available in late September – the price has yet to be announced.
