Sony officially unveils 30x zoom HX100V
The zoom-tastic Sony Cyber-shot HX100V
Those DSLR-bothering superzoom compacts keeps on getting smarter. Sony has been producing some of the leading contenders for a while, and its latest pair of offerings show it’s by no means losing its touch.
The headline-grabbing HX100V leads the way thanks to its staggering 30x optical zoom, but despite its more traditional compact form factor the HX9V isn’t far behind with its still impressive 16x zoom capability.
Aside from their form factor and zoom abilities, the pair share mostly the same specification. Sony’s 16.2-megapixel back-illuminated EXMOR sensor sets a seriously high-end tone, one that continues through the 1080p/60fps video capabilities and 3in 640×480 LCD.
Other notable features include on-board GPS, auto and 3D panorama shooting, image stabilisation and quick autofocus, over and above the usual bells and whistles you expect on premium compacts.
You’ll have to wait until April for the HX100V and HX9V to go on sale, and for now we only have the $450 and $350 respective US prices to go on.
