Sony NGP landing on November 11?
Remember the date: 11/11/11
It’s already been a good year for handheld gaming, with both the Nintendo 3DS and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – the PlayStation phone – hitting the shelves imminently.
And now we can put another date on our gaming calenders – November 11. That’s when Sony is being tipped to deliver the NGP – or the Next Generation Portable – that was announced at the end of January.
Gaming title MCV says the NGP will arrive in Europe first, and quotes an anonymous source as saying “development deadlines have been set to ensure key Western releases are finished before the end of the summer for deployment in the autumn”.
While the sources aren’t directly quoted on a specific date, the appropriately dramatic “11/11/11” is being whispered about as a likely time for Sony to make its next-gen handheld available.
If you need a reminder of just why the NGP is worth getting excited about, it’ll launch with the same ARM Cortex A9 processor found on the PS3, along with a 5in OLED touchscreen and both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.
