Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 HD cams announced
Sony NEX-5 – all-new Sony snapper
The Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 have just been announced this morning by Sony – and they’re a pair of ultra-portable Alpha “DSLR”s based on the concept model shown off earlier in the year at the PMA photography show. Both new cams feature super-slim new bodies as well as interchangeable lenses and – best of all – HD video recording.
The Sony NEX-5 (pictured) sports a 24.2mm thin body with an all-new 14.2 megapixel HD CMOS sensor and a processor capable of seven frames per second. There’s a three-inch tilting LCD screen on the back so that you can keep track of all our snaps, and there’s slots for both Sony’s Memory Stick cards, and SD cards.
The Sony NEX-5 records at 1080i HD video, while the Sony NEX-3 shoots at a lower resolution 720p. Both cameras have HDMI out to plug straight into your TV for instant viewing and both also pack the impressive Sweep Panorama shot stitching mode as seen in Sony’s latest compacts.
The Sony NEX-5 and Sony NEX-3 will both be on sale from this summer with new lenses, but the good news for current Alpha fans is an optional mount adaptor to slot in current Alpha DSLR lenses, meaning that you may only have to spend money on the body.
