Sony mimicking Amazon with Reader app
Sony Reader is going all-digital next month
Sony is following in Amazon’s footsteps and is making its Reader eBook software available as an app for iPhone and Android mobile users.
As with Amazon’s Kindle app, the Sony Reader app will be a free download and will enable you to purchase eBooks from the Sony Reader store and read titles you already own.
Sony says the software interface will be virtually identical to that found on its Reader hardware, and as with the Kindle app, you’ll have the ability to adjust font sizes, set bookmarks and add notes and highlights on screen.
The Sony Reader app has been slated for a December launch, by which time we’ll probably be clearer on just what versions of iOS and Android will be supported.
