Sony launches PS2 Bravia TV combo

Sony launches PS2 Bravia TV combo Spot the PS2...

The PlayStation 3 has been around for years now, but Sony can’t seem to let go of the previous generation PS2. It’s latest trick is to bundle the older console right into a 22in Bravia TV, and it’s selling the resulting creation for just £199.

The Bravia KDL-22PX300 is a fairly chunky affair, particularly on the bezel front, though the PS2 itself is built into the stand below, which is a reasonably elegant solution.

At under £200 it’s no surprise to hear that the PX300 isn’t full HD, but this won’t really matter too much if you’ve bought it specifically for gaming, as the PlayStation 2 is completely non-HD so the extra quality would have been a waste anyway.

But its HD-ready credentials should at least come in handy for watching the built-in Freeview tuner, while a generous four HDMI ports will take some filling, especially since it’s unlikely one of them will be taken up by a PS3, unless you’ve missed the point somewhat.

Either way, as a second TV with a built-in DVD player for the bedroom the PX300 isn’t a bad shout, especially for the price, and it’ll allow you to dust off all those old PS2 titles for a bit of nostalgic gameplay too.

What a complete waste of time, SONY let it go. Put the resources into the PS3. I can see what they are trying to do, target the low end user but come on, 'Let It Go'.

What's the point? You can't buy new games they are only available second hand these days. This product is out of date before it's made it to the shop! What a waste of time and money.

Gael- I disagree there is a number of PS2 games out there brand new and selling from retailers (amazon), its a good idea putting PS2 into a T.V

I agree with Mike, and even if you do buy it used, it'll only cost like 99p, and a max. of perhaps £10, nothing more! I feel that this product may just be successful x)

Don't knock it until you've tried it! Just look at the Pro's . 1.) Built in Freeview. 2.) 4 HDMI ports / Pc input / USB 3.) Plays Divx Movies / Mp3's 4.) Plays DVD's 5.) Built in PS2 with controller 6.) Very Good Picture Quality 7.) The price ( £179 - £199 ) Cons 1.) Maybe a bit ugly 2.) Not really wall mountable Would have been nice to see the PS2 built into the side of the TV but that's me just being picky! Overall a Value for money Sony Branded TV / DVD / PS2 with loads of extras and a decent picture! Great for the bedroom! A Big Thumbs up!
