Sony launches a450 step-up D-SLR
Sony's latest Alpha cam
Sony has added the a450 to its burgeoning range of Alpha family DSLRs.
Featuring a 14.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor and up to 7fps continuous shooting, the a450 is aimed at those looking to upgrade from an existing entry-level Sony SLR. It’s modelled largely on the higher-specced a550, but foregoes a few goodies to keep the price down.
If that’s you, you’ll probably already be familiar with Sony’s powerful BIONZ processor line, which allows sensitivity up to an impressive ISO 12800. You also get Manual Focus Check Live View on the 2.7in LCD and on-screen enlargement for instantly checking focus and composition in fine detail.
The a450’s versatile capabilities extend to a high-capacity battery good for up to 1,050 shots between charges. However, you’ll have to do without live view AF, which is one of the features trimmed from the pricier a550’s spec list.
Speaking of price, we’ve yet to have official confirmation on what the a450 will cost when it goes on sale next month, but with the a550 coming in at £620, our bet is a price tag around the £500 mark.
