Sony Ericsson turning its back on Windows Mobile?
Sony Ericsson and Windows Mobile during happier times.
It’s not had a bad run, but it seems Sony Ericsson is changing the locks and waving goodbye to Windows Mobile after the recently announced Xperia X2 is out the door.
With the mobile OS market considerably different than when Sony Ericsson first jumped aboard the WinMo wagon, what with Apple stealing the hearts with iPhone OS and Google the minds with Android. Microsoft, it would seem, has struggled to keep up.
According to whispers from deep inside the Sony Ericsson bunker, the Xperia X2 will be the last Microsoft mobile it’s going to put out. Once the X2 is done and dusted it’ll be Android and S60 all the way.
It’s nothing personal – apparently it’s just down to the stats. Windows Mobile just can’t shift numbers it used to, so it’s time to make way for a more sprightly, fitter mobile OS.

This is quite interesting to read that they are dropping Microsoft. I wonder if it's anything to do with the price of a license compared to that of the Android.
