Sony Alpha cameras go 3D

Sony Alpha cameras go 3D Sony Alpha – soon with added dimension

Sony has announced that its new Alpha series of compact cameras will feature a 3D lens and new image processing software that will facilitate snaps with a whole new dimension.

The new cams will come packing NVidia’s 3D Vision Photo Viewer processor which, when used in conjunction with a new interchangeable 3D lens, will furnish your photos with 3D capability.

Most 3D cams and camcorders need two lenses to work their magic, but this system sees the Sonys keep it to a single lens, meaning that your new Aplha compact will only be 3D when you want it to – and the lens will just be one of an arsenal of different options.

There’s no word of when these new cams will be market-ready, or indeed how much they will cost, but we’re guessing that you should start saving now to be on the safe side…
