Sonos hits the iPad
Take full advantage of the iPad's bigger screen
We’re big fans of both Sonos’ multi-room music system and the Apple iPad, so finding out the two are coming together in a new app can be no bad thing.
That’s right: the Sonos iPad app is here – a couple of months later than planned, but we’ll forgive that. It’s a free download from the App Store, and gives you full control over the multi-room magic of your Sonos system in a package specifically designed for the larger screen of Apple’s tablet.
You get a full virtual keyboard for browsing your favourite songs and albums, while the extra screen real estate also lets you view all your zones and what they’re playing on a single screen. From there you can easily grab and group zones together for hands-on control of what each ZonePlayer is playing, while adding songs to playlists is a simple drag-and-drop affair.
In more good news for Sonos users, the company has rolled out Sonos Software 3.3, adding full support for Spotify’s 10 million songs for the first time. Previously available as an invite-only beta, the service will be available to anyone with a Spotify Premium account.

£280 for a Sonos 200 controller which (although very good) only controls the Sonos or an entry level iPad which is bigger and more intuitive for £420.....? Hmm....... This in my mind gives me an iPad on top of a great controller for only £149!
