Sky shows its 3D hand
Enjoy key Premier League clashes in glorious 3D
It’s just two days until Sky 3D – the country’s first dedicated 3D channel – starts beaming into UK homes, and the satellite broadcaster has upped the anticipation by revealing just what we have to look forward to.
Sky has dubbed its newest channel ‘Event TV’, and promises to deliver the full impact of the biggest and best in TV entertainment in glorious 3D – from headline sporting events and cutting edge documentaries and the latest Hollywood blockbusters.
An average of three live sporting events will be shown in 3D every week, including Premier League football, rugby’s autumn tests at Twickenham and the first boxing 3D title fight between David Haye and Audley Harrison on November 13.
The likes of Ice Age: Dawn of The Dinosaurs, Cloudy with A Chance Of Meatballs and My Bloody Valentine are just three of the 3D movies Sky has lined up, with all three Toy Story films on their way early next year.
There’s plenty more too, from the Prince’s Trust Rock Gala in December to the fascinating Bugs!, a documentary on tropical insects narrated by Dame Judi Dench.
Sky 3D will be available at no extra cost to Sky+ HD subscribers on Sky’s top package, and can be received on existing set-top boxes. It is compatible with all 3D TVs being introduced by LG, Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic, and works with both active and passive 3D formats.
