Sky dishing out free multiroom HD box

Sky dishing out free multiroom HD box Used to cost £199; now costs... nothing

Satellite broadcaster Sky has cut the cost of adding a second HD box to your Sky setup at home, serving up the add-on kit completely free when you take out a multiroom subscription.

The playback-only box used to set you back a full £199, but Sky has decided to scrap the fee altogether to add extra shine to its deals in the face of stiff competition from the likes of Virgin Media.

“As the appetite for HD viewing grows we want to make this service available to customers throughout the house so they are always able to watch great content in high definition,” Sky’s Hilary Perchard said in revealing the news.

Of course, it’s just the box itself that comes free. You’ll still have to fork out £10.25 a month for the multiroom service itself, plus the same again to purchase the HD pack on your multiroom device.
