Sharp outs pocket-friendly audio kit
The DK-AP8P – dock and roll
Sharp has rolled out a pair of new bits of audio kit designed to give you top-class tunes without clearing out your bank account.
The DK-AP8P iPod dock and HT-SB400 sound bar were both announced yesterday, and the former in particular catches the eye with a look coming in somewhere between industrial and futuristic.
Its big party trick is a completely detachable front panel which doubles as a remote control – albeit a fairly large one. On the inside you get a 2.1 channel sound output featuring SRS WOW digital trickery which Sharp claims expands the sonic sweet spot for maximum stereo jollies.
The sound bar delivers 3.1 sound totalling a respectable 32W of sonic juice. Home cinema buffs can stick it on a wall or leave it free-standing, with left, right and centre speakers packed inside along with a sub and amplifier.
Its price tag of £180 certainly delivers on the value-for-money front, and it goes on sale next month at John Lewis. The DK-AP8P dock, meanwhile, will set you back an even £100 and should be popping up at your favourite gadget shop in the next week or so.
