Sharp launches contrast-tastic LED TVs
Get the LED in: Sharp's new TVs sport next-gen backlighting for better black performance.
LED backlighting allows LCD televisions to deliver the eye-popping contrast and black levels that would normally be the preserve of high-end plasma TVs – and now there’s a brand new batch of these screens heading for the high street courtesy of Sharp.
The new Aquos LE700 range features 32, 40, 46 and 55-inch models, all with full 1080p resolutions and, thanks to the LED backlighting, contrast ratios of 2,000,000:1.
All models include a 100Hz mode to smooth out motion, and the use of LEDs also means that the sets are mercury-free and therefore eco-friendly, not to mention long-lasting: Sharp claims you can get 100,000 hours of use out of each of these tellies – that’s a lot of episodes of The Gadget Show!
Sharp isn’t the only manufacturer offering LED-backlit TVs: Philips, Sony and Samsung already have models on the market.

After extensive research into the "best to Buy" concidering budget, picture/ sound quality and technology that will not become redundant after the first nights viewing the sharp came a close seond to the Samsung 8000 series - 46". The Panasonic 600htz (non LED backlit) was a close contener.
