Satnavs just got sexy!
Art Lebedev Studio Navigarius: bringing circles to satnavs!
Who says satnavs have to be rectangular in shape? Russian design house Art Lebedev Studio has a knack of turning the most yawn-inducing of gadgets and giving them the sort of makeover that Gok Wan can only dream of. This time it’s the turn of the humble windscreen-hugging satnav with the Navigarius.
Okay, let’s get one thing straight right from the off: the Art Lebedev Studio Navigarius is only a concept at the minute, but it certainly gives other satnav designers the impetus to start thing outside the box (so to speak).
The Navigarius’ design is far from, well, far-fetched. With a circular touchscreen and slender detachable windscreen sucking stand, it takes elements that are standard on current satnavs and gives them a sexy circular twist.
The Navigarius has mini USB and microSD, plus a power adapter for your in-car cigarette lighter, so it’s still pretty standard in that respect. The main thing here is that design. So come on TomTom, Garmin and Co. How about it? A few circular satnavs would be welcome respite in a world of squares and rectangles.
