Sanyo Xacti CG110 brings virtual twin lenses

Sanyo Xacti CG110 brings virtual twin lenses Sanyo's latest, cleverest Xacti

New from Sanyo is the CG110 camcorder, the latest in its line of Xacti pistol-grip cams that comes with a curious virtual twin zoom lens system.

Resolution-wise, it’s a real over-achiever in both the video and stills department. The former is taken care of by 1080p shooting at an impressive 60fps, while the latter compromises a compact camera-beating 14.4MP sensor.

Both are framed on the familiar fold-out style 2.7in LCD, while you also get 16GB of on-board memory, with the option to add more using either SDHC or the brand new SDXC card formats.

Optical zoom, meanwhile, is a more-than-capable 12x, with Sanyo quirkily dividing it into two ranges you switch between using a Zoom Range switch, with the claim that this gives the feel of having interchangeable long and short 6x zoom lenses on board.

On more solid ground, however, are features like digital image stabilisation, face-detection and HDMI connectivity. This highly capable moving picture expert has only been announced for its home Japanese market for now, where it goes on sale in April, but keep your eyes peeled for its arrival on these shores later in the year.
