Sanyo outs super-eco electric bikes
Eneloop electric bike – pedalling pleasure
Sanyo has just added a couple of new additions to its range of Eneloop electric hybrid bikes – and with added bonus of a new super-efficient and eco-friendly self-charging system.
The Eneloop range’s classic Pashley-like stylings and eco credentials have seen models already cause a stir Stateside, but the new CY-SPL226 and CY-SPL224 will also feature a next-gen charging feature: “Eco Charge Mode”, meaning that while you’re buzzing about town you’re also buzzing up that battery, even if you’re on the straight.
Unlike most electric bikes, which recharge as you pelt down hills or use the brakes, Eco Charge Mode will power up even when you’re pedalling on level ground. Which means less energy wasted and more help for you on heavy uphill treks.
The Eneloop CY-SPL226 and CY-SPL224 will be released in Japan on 21 April. There’s no word if they will head to the UK, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
