Samsung unveils OLED handsets
The Jet and Omnia 2 were two of a host of handsets unveiled by Samsung
Wow. Yesterday we had a slew of Nokia mobiles to kick off our day, and today we’ve been treated to a clutch of Samsung handsets all boasting slick OLED screens. The pick of the bunch? The Samsung Omnia 2 and the Samsung Jet! Phew.
The Jet is an interesting hybrid phone, with an 800MHz processor, five-megapixel camera and that sexy 3.1-inch screen that demands to be touched. It also has HSDPA for super-fast web navigating, GPS for super-fast navigating, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, erm, for your own headphones. Only downer? It’s running TouchWhiz 2.0, so there’s no open third party support.
The other big unveiling from Samsung was the Omnia 2. It’s packing Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a whopping 3.7-inch OLED screen. And the rest of the specs? How does HSDPA, Wi-i, a five-megapixel camera, GPS and up to 32GB of storage sound? That’s not the end of it though. The Samsung Omnia 2 also shoots sharp shoots 720×480 video at 30fps, and reels off DivX, Xvid, H.263, H.264, WMV9 and MPEG4 flicks. Bonza.
