Samsung outs slimmest 3D Blu-ray deck
Samsung's BD-D7500 is just 1.1in thick
It’s not as if there’s an awful lot of competition, but Samsung is nonetheless rather pleased with the BD-D7500, or the world’s slimmest 3D Blu-ray player, as it’s maker is proud to announce.
And why not? The BD-D7500 is as attractive as it is skinny, matching a 1.1in depth with a fetching brushed metal finish. On the inside, meanwhile, you’re given not only 3D Blu-ray playback, but also 2D-to-3D conversion and 1080p upscaling.
Wi-Fi and DLNA support are built in, as is support for those Samsung Apps you’ve downloaded onto your big-screen 3D TV. It can even be wall-mounted if you can’t find space for its slender lines under your telly.
Samsung also announced three more 3D Blu-ray players at CES yesterday, starting with the cube-shaped BD-D7000, which otherwise shares the same features as the 7500. Then there’s the BD-D6700, which can be controlled from an iPhone or Android smartphone, and finally the BD-D6500, with a similar form factor to the 7500 but a lighter set of features.
Nothing yet from Samsung on price or availability.
