Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 joins the fray
Out of all the gadgets shown off at IFA this week, it feels a bit like Samsung has taken over, making more announcements than any other manufacturer. The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 was revealed in the middle of the madness, offering an affordable iPod Touch rival.
The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 is the smallest model in the Galaxy S range, and despite first looks, it’s not actually a smartphone. Samsung’s latest gadget is a portable media player, boasting a 3.6-inch touchscreen, and a choice of 8GB or 16GB of storage space. If 8GB or 16GB of storage space isn’t enough for your music, movies and photo collections, you’ll also be able to add more via the microSD slot.
As with the recently announced Philips GoGear Connect 3, the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 runs the latest version of Android, and there’s a 1GHz processor to keep things ticking over at a decent speed.
Just like the Philips PMP, apps and games can be downloaded via the Android Market using Wi-Fi, and you’ll also be able to browse the internet whenever you’re in range of wireless hotspots.
The Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 is set to hit the shops in October, with prices starting at £149, and rising to £169 for the 16GB model.
