Roth releases pair of Charlies
The Charlie adds some class to your tunes
Audio company Roth has just released a pair of “desktop speaker systems” inkeeping with its funky high-end image. The Charlies are designed to hook up with an digital music source – iPhone, iPod, MP3 player, Mac or PC – and deliver the sonic goods on a grander scale than your lowly inbuilt PC speakers.
Available in two flavours – the Charlie 2.0 is a two speaker set-up, while the 2.1 adds a subwoofer to the mix. Both systems come packing a wireless receiver for your docked iPhone or iPod, as well as a 3.5mm input and USB socket.
The Charlie 2.0 employs an active monitor design, with an amp capable of pumping out 15 watts per channel. Its big brother, the 2.1 houses the electronics within the chassis of it trendy cylindrical subwoofer, resulting in 25 watts to drive each speaker – plus a further 25 watts to power the sub itself. Which in layman’s terms should mean belting sound.
The Roth Audio Charlie 2.0 and Charlie 2.1 will be available from April 2010 for £199 and £299 respectively.
