Nokia's flagship N97 has gone up for pre-order on the official store

The Nokia N97, Nozza’s all-powerful, much-anticipated super phone, has just gone up for pre-order on the Finnish phone maker’s online store. That means it won’t be long before almost everyone can have one of the super-sexy handsets in their pocket.

We say ‘almost’ everyone because the Nokia N97 has had a £499.95 price tag slapped around its neck like a ball and chain on a prisoner from the 1800s. Okay, that’s a lot less than the expected £700 price, but it’s still going to hurt your wallet like a kick to the man parts hurts.

Just a reminder, then, of what you can get for your considerable money. The N97 will have a slide-out keyboard, 32GB of internal memory (expandable up to 48GB!), A-GPS, a five-megapixel camera, and it’ll run the S60 fifth Edition OS.

To say we’re excited about the N97 is like saying Morris dancers like wearing bells. And that excitement’s only piqued further by the news that the N97 will be the first Nokia phone to pack Ovi Store – Nozza’s version of Apple’s App Store. The fact that Ovi Store launch with over 20,000 items makes us even more excited.
