Revo IKON makes DAB touchy!
The Revo IKON: bringing touchscreens into the world of radio!
Is no area of Gadgetland safe from touchscreen technology? Revo has just unveiled the IKON – the world’s first colour touchscreen, all-format digital radio and iPod dock!
Revo claims that the IKON’s a “generational leap forward” in the world of DAB radios. Dressed in satin black and brushed with an aluminium trim, it’s certainly sexy, but all eyes are going to be on that full-colour 3.5-inch touchscreen that’s the same size as an iPhone’s.
With an icon-driven user-interface, the IKON’s touchscreen looks to be as easy to use an iPhone’s as well. But that’s not the end of the Revo IKON’s talents. It also receives the full roster of digital radio standards including DAB, DAB+ and internet radio, as well as FM. It also has access to online music service Last.fm so you have access to over 5 million tunes right there!
The IKON’s also a streamer, wirelessly flinging tunes from any Mac or PC hooked up. It’s also a handy iPod dock, releasing your ‘Pod’s tunes from its shackles. It costs £279.95 and will be out on October 21. It’s up for pre-order now. Is this the ultimate DAB radios? keep an eye out for a future review for the answer…

Hi there, NB: I have also posted this comment on the Pure Sensia review page as I am keen to get the comparison on both these devices. I am looking to buy an Internet radio/WiFi/DAB-DAB+/iPod/media streaming docking device for my iPod 3G 64GB and it seems that it is a two horse race between the Pure Sensia and the Revo Ikon. I was just wondering if a comparison has been done between these two obvious leaders in the field and what the outcome was before I spend the small ransome being asked for both of these units. I know that the Pure Sensia requires you to purchase an external dock for the iPod (not so good) whereas the Revo Ikon has it built in which is very handy. As far as sound goes, I would like to know which one is the better for sound quality if I use it at home for say easy listening and also the odd house party! Obviously there is the future proofing as well, whereas the Pure Sensia has Apps on it, (which from what I have read online are a bit gimmicky at the moment) this could easily be expanded via software updates and become quite useful in the not too distant future, if Revo are to incorporate this feature then it would probably mean a total hardware upgrade. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
