Pure's dawn-faking Twilight beams in
A new dawn for SAD sufferers
Let’s face it: waking up in the morning is tough enough at the best of times, but at this time of year it’s especially hard, what with the darkness extending later and later into the morning in the run-up to Christmas.
So it’s good timing, then, that DAB radio specialist Pure has chosen now to release its new slumber-friendly Twilight radio. The large wake-up light on top can be set to simulate the arrival of the dawn while the real one is still a while off, getting gradually lighter over anything from 15 minutes to an hour.
The idea is that your natural body clock will pull you out of deep sleep in response, making the wake-up process that bit more bearable. To complete the picture, you can even set the alarm to sound as a cockerel crowing for added authenticity.
The Twilight isn’t just for early risers, though. On-board sounds including the likes of crackling fires or babbling brooks should make getting to sleep that much easier in the first place, especially with supporting mood lighting. Alternatively, you can give sleep the cold shoulder altogether by engaging party mode, which sees the all-purpose light treat your room to a display of rainbow lights.
Before we forget, the Pure Twilight can also function as a DAB or FM radio on top of its various pyrotechnics modes, and comes with a price tag of £129.99.
