Pioneer culls the KURO!
March 2010: that's when we'll see the last Pioneer KURO rolled out
What’s worse than watching Noel Edmonds on the box? Not being able to watch the box at all. If all the companies went the way of Pioneer that would be the nightmare scenario we’d face. You see, the Japanese company is pulling production on its televisions, including the much-fancied Pioneer KURO, from March 2010.
It comes as another example of economic instability dictating the philosophy of a technology company, with Panasonic stating that it could not foresee any improved profitability in the television sector, despite working with Panasonic and Sharp to produce top quality plasmas and LCDs.
Don’t worry, though, the company will still exist, if only to concentrate on its audio range, which includes DJ equipment, car stereos and Blu-ray players. And who knows, when the economy’s back on its feet (who knows when that will be?), maybe we’ll see the KURO rise from the ashes! Well, we can dream.
