Philips Net TV: first web-ready models revealed!
Philips ripped the covers off its new Net TV service last week, and now the first models to include the web-ready technology have been shown off.
The Philips 9604 and 9664 TVs come clad in aluminium, and both include Philips Ambilight technology that emits a soft backlight on three sides, changing colour to match the picture on the screen. However, it’s their slender bodies, speed and web abilities that are most likely to seduce your telly tastes – The Philips 9664 Net TV stretches the tape measure to just 20mm deep, and speed-wise it refreshes the screen at a super-quick 200Hz meaning it smartly smooths out juddery images making it perfect for fast-moving footage.
The Philips 9604 is similarly svelte, but refreshes at 100Hz instead. Both screens boast Wi-Fi inside, which is used to wirelessly hook them up to the web and display sites from YouTube, eBay and TomTom on the big screen.
The Philips 9604 will be sold in 32 and 37-inch sizes, while the Philips 9664 will come in larger 42 and 47-inch flavours.
