Philips Lumiblade lights get turned on!

Fwd Tech  Monday 20 April 2009

Philips Lumiblade lights get turned on! Philips new range of OLED Lumiblade lights are on sale now!

OLED is the future of everything apparently. First tellies, then portable media players, and now lights. Philips’ Lumiblade is the company’s first attempt at OLED household lighting, and it’s nothing short of, well, illuminating.

God said on the seventh day, “let there be light” and there was. Well, Philips announced it would be releasing the Lumiblade on the seventh day, and then released it a full year early! That’s right. They’re on sale now.

What’s so good about OLED lights? Well, they eliminate the need for energy-wasting filament bulbs for one. The Lumiblades are flat and emit natural light at low power levels, saving you money and the world in the process.

So how much do they cost? Well, Philips 3G is selling base kits for £62, while the Lumiblade OLED lights vary from £140 for a tiny circle, to 500 smackers for a large rectangular panel. The beauty here is, that most shapes are possible, and they’ll fit practically anywhere in your room. A bright idea if ever we heard one.
