Philips gets active with ActiveFit headset Water resistant? No sweat...

There are more than a few Bluetooth headphones out there that claim to be designed for fitness use, but a surprising number fall flat at one of the most obvious hurdles: they’re not waterproof, and therefore sweat-proof.

No such problem with Philips’ new ActiveFit headphones, though. Thanks to a special moisture-resistant seal, these two-tone black and grey numbers with their orange earpieces won’t short out while you’re working up a sweat in the gym or out running, and you can even wash them off under a tap afterwards.

The ActionFit headset – or the SHB6000/28 to use its full designation – has a noise-cancelling dual microphone that sees the ActionFit able to double up as a hands-free Bluetooth mobile headset, with Philips’ SwitchStream system expertly able to jump between music and mobile modes.

A flexible earhook design, a choice of three tips and the soft headband should ensure maximum comfort while you’re out on a jog. And with Philips’ Angled Acoustic Pipe system promising more sonic oomph at lower volumes, battery life should be impressive too.

We’re still waiting on a UK price for these fitness-focused babies, but over in the US they’ve been slapped with a $130 price tag – about middle of the road for fitness-based ‘phones.
