Paradigm unleashes bass-loving super-subs Bring on the bass

For the ultimate in tummy-rumbling bass, you surely can’t top the SUB 1 and SUB 2 from Canadian audio specialist Paradigm.

The two models share the same basic hexagonal design, and it’s a fairly unassuming look that gives little hint of the ASBO-attracting bass levels lurking underneath.

The SUB 2 is the real powerhouse, with a half-dozen low-distortion 10in drivers combining to deliver frequencies as low as 7Hz, while 10Hz frequencies can be pushed out at a window-rattling 112 decibels. All told, you’ve got a fearsome 9000W of peak power on tap, or 4500W of continuous power.

The SUB 1 takes a slightly more humane approach, with its smaller 8in drivers good for 1700W of continuous power and 3400W peak power.

Thankfully for your neighbours, this unruly pair go for £7,500 and £3,500 respectively. For anyone wanting to hear them in action, they’ll be rumbling the foundations of the Bristol Show at the end of the month.
